Doggy Paddle

This weekend just before the typhoon we went over to the beach in Makiminato. Chiquita and her dog brother Snuffy just love the water BUT they are bit scared of it. They will run in feeling brave and suddenly a wave will break noisily and then they run at top speed the opposite direction. They can swim if I put them into the water but they get very nervous. I really want them to swim by themselves. Next weekend we are going to the beach again with some other dogs who swim frequently so I hope that those dogs will give my dogs swimming lessons :-)

Chiquita my banana

Chiquita is 8 or 9 years old. I don't really know because we got her from the pound. Her former owner gave her to the pound to be killed. I was a volunteer at a homeles animal shelter when my boss said she would go to the pound to rescue some dogs from the gas chamber. SHe came back with a really ugly girl dog who she called chiquita. Chiquita has only one eye that works. Her other is small and blue. Having only one eye did not stop Chiquita from leading an active life.
